India has the world’s second largest Diaspora next only to China, with a substantive presence in all the six continents. Non-Resident Indians (NRI) and Persons of Indian Origin (PIO) have transferred knowledge and expertise, added to India’s income through remittances and played vital role in India's leadership in Information Technology (IT) and IT Enabled Services (ITES) sectors.

A Foreign Investment & NRI Cell has been created for providing guidance and advisory services for attracting foreign investment to the State and addressing the problems faced by NRIs/PIOs relating to property, marital discord and law & order, etc. An Advisory Committee has been constituted at the apex level under the chairmanship of the Hon’ble Chief Minister, Haryana to consider related matters and review action taken by the Cell from time to time.
